Surfing Lessons with St Saviours

Surfing Lessons at Shanklin A huge thanks from all who participated to Cathy Budden and the West Wight Landscape Partnership for organizing and putting on surfing lessons with ISurf and Chris Mannion. With the strong wind and swell Chris had decided that the best and safest place to surf on the Saturday afternoon was at Small Hope Beach in Shanklin. Chris initially takes them through the basics on the sand before they all enter the water and it wasn’t long before there were hoots and high fives with huge smiles all round.

Grange Chine has a serious problem with marine litter and the clean will make a massive difference to this beach. All are welcome whether you surf or not, but the clean is part of the Motivocean Beach Clean Tour 2011 and any volunteers aged between 16 and 25 are eligible for a free surf lesson as a reward for taking part. This will be in the form of vouchers given out on the day to redeem at a later date. Gloves and bags are provided, but make sure you bring warm and waterproof clothing in case the weather is poor. We will meet at the bottom of Grange Chine at 10 am….
